Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg

About the University

The Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg is the oldest University in Germany. Its school in fundamental Physics has been distinguished by the 'Exzellenzinitiative' of the German Federal Government.

Sócrates/Erasmus Program:

I studied in the Ruprecht-Karls Universität Heidelberg during the academic year 2006/07 within the Socrates program with an Erasmus scholarship. There, I took lectures on Statistical Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Electrodynamics and Nuclear Physics; all of them corresponding to the second cycle of the Licentiate degree in Spain.

Besides, I took courses on German language: passed the C1 level within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and was graded a 2 in the DSH Test, which allows me to study most technical and scientific degrees in any German University as if I were born German.

HiWi at Max Plank Institut für Astronomie (MPIA):

From February to May 2007 I worked as an assistant (HiWi) of Prof. Dr. Cornelis Dullemond. My task was to translate some of Prof. Dullemond's code from Fortran 77 into Fortran 90. I worked on two codes: one which solved the hydrodynamic equations and another one which simulated a Radiative Transfer System. After the code was translated, I was also to implement different simulations to test that the functionality remained intact.
